Redesign of Website Navigation

Challenges The previous website navigation was outdated and failed to reflect the company’s current structure. It did not effectively guide individuals and institutions seeking tailored content, leading to frustration and disengagement. As a result, users often abandoned their search, reducing potential interest in the company’s services.

Website Navigation Before Revamp Was Not Reflecting the Structure of Services Available

User Feedback-Driven Insights Users struggled to find relevant content, feeling overwhelmed by irrelevant information. Institutions also had trouble accessing tailored resources, highlighting the need for a more intuitive navigation system. Observational Research: Users often abandoned the search function when results didn’t match expectations and clicked through multiple pages, leading to frustration and disengagement. This emphasized the need for clearer navigation. Competitive Analysis: Leading platforms used streamlined information architecture with role-specific pathways. The existing site lacked a user-centric flow, inspiring the need for a more purposeful design. Stakeholder Interviews: Internal stakeholders reported difficulty accessing key information and personalized content, stressing the need for a scalable solution for both individual and institutional users. Data-Driven Insights: Analytics showed high bounce rates and significant drop-offs, particularly on institutional pages, confirming the need for a navigation overhaul aligned with user intent.

Information Architecture

Design Approach Based on insights from user feedback, research, and stakeholder interviews, my design approach aimed to address the challenges of overwhelming, irrelevant information and difficulty finding tailored content. I restructured the navigation into clear, intuitive categories, simplifying pathways to reduce cognitive load and improve content discovery. The design is scalable, meeting the needs of both individual learners and institutions, and focuses on improving content accessibility and user engagement. Ultimately, the solution was driven by the need for a more user-friendly, intuitive navigation system.

Solution The solution centers around a complete Information Architecture designed to organize content into clear, intuitive categories that align with user needs, making it easier to find relevant resources. The new structure includes a comprehensive Ecosystem of ultrasound products, each designed to address the barriers in ultrasound education. A key feature of the redesign is the personalized system, which tailors content for each institution, learner, provider, and program. This approach ensures that every user can access relevant resources based on their specific needs. The Educational Topics section organizes training modules by specialty, such as Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, ensuring users can quickly find content suited to their field of interest.

Results, Impact & Reflection By organizing content into clear, intuitive categories, the site now better serves the diverse needs of individual learners, institutions, and medical providers. The personalized system ensures that each user group can quickly find tailored resources, improving content accessibility and engagement. The impact of this redesign is evident in the enhanced user experience, with a more efficient and intuitive platform that addresses the barriers previously identified, such as overwhelming information and difficulty in finding specialized content. The solution has led to improved user satisfaction and increased engagement, particularly among institutional partners who now have easier access to the resources they need. Reflecting on the process, the redesign was driven by user insights, feedback, and competitive analysis, ensuring that the final solution directly addressed the challenges faced by the users. The result is a more user-centric, scalable platform that enhances both learning and teaching experiences, contributing to a more effective ultrasound education system overall.
